Greater London is the top-level administrative subdivision covering London, England.[2] The administrative area was officially created in 1965 and covers the City of London (including Middle Temple and Inner Temple), the City of Westminster and the other 31 London boroughs.[2] Its area also forms the London region of England and the London European Parliament constituency.

Inner London is the name for the group of London boroughs which form the interior part of Greater London and are surrounded by Outer London. It is the richest inner city in the European Union, with a GDP per capita of €76,052 in 2005, ahead of Frankfurt (€75,415 per capita) and Paris (€75,235 per capita).

Outer London is the name for the group of London Boroughs that form a ring around Inner London. The position is now less clear, as the census statistical classifications use different definitions mainly because Newham and Haringey have many of the characteristics of Inner London boroughs while inner-London Greenwich is more like an Outer London borough.

The West End of London is an area of Central London, England, containing many of the city's major tourist attractions, businesses, headquarters and the commercial West End theatres. The West End was long favoured by the rich elite as a place of residence because it was usually upwind of the smoke drifting from the crowded City. It was also located close to the royal seat of power at Westminster, and is largely contained within the City of Westminster

The East End of London, known locally as the East End, is the area of London, England, east of the medieval walled City of London and north of the River Thames. Parts of the London boroughs of Newham and Waltham Forest, formerly in an area of Essex known as 'London over the border', are sometimes considered to be in the East End.

Docklands is the semi-official name for an area in the east of London, England, comprising parts of several boroughs (Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Newham and Greenwich) in Greater London. The docks were formerly part of the Port of London, at one time the world's largest port. They have now been redeveloped principally for commercial and residential use.

The Palace of Westminster, also known as the Houses of Parliament or Westminster Palace, in London, is where the two Houses of the Parliament of the United Kingdom (the House of Lords and the House of Commons) meet. The palace lies on the north bank of the River Thames in the London borough of the City of Westminster, close to the government buildings of Whitehall.

The palace contains around 1,100 rooms, 100 staircases and 4.8 kilometres (3 mi) of corridors.
